How your voice communications have benefited from…mice?

In the event you’re not aware, mice really like chewing on wires. Why, you ask? Who knows, but engineers in the early 1900’s determined that more durable wires were needed to transmit phone calls. While mice could tear through the thin, original phone lines with little problem, they apparently didn’t have the patience or chewing endurance to nibble through thicker grade wires.

Some opine that mice and other rodents don’t necessarily prefer chewing on wires and cables, but do so out of proximity…and possibly boredom. In other words, they hang out in the same tucked away places that host and hide wires. And, one can assume, there’s little else to do there. Thankfully, they haven’t figured out a way to interrupt cellular service.
